Updating residents at last week’s Woodhaven Residents Block Association meeting, a representative from the Dept. of Buildings, Ken Lazar, said the owner of the building on Jamaica Ave. is finally following a schedule set by a judge to complete necessary work on the building.

Two Woodhaven civic leaders took to the streets this past weekend to fight the war on graffiti vandalism. Martin Colberg, president of the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association, and his predecessor, Ed Wendell, painted 21 mailboxes, 10 fire boxes and 6 traffic control boxes across the neighborhood on Sunday that had been marred by graffiti.

Known as “The Great Woodhaven Yard Sale,” it will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at participating households in the 11421 ZIP code.
