Woodhaven civic leaders took an old school approach to find out the most pressing problems in their neighborhood. Illegal conversions, noise and plans for the abandoned Rockaway rail line topped the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association’s first official straw poll. More than 75 people crowded into the group’s meeting last Saturday and cast their vote by dropping straws into drinking cups.
